Abruptum foi uma banda sueca de Black/Death Metal particularmente estranha, conhecida por sua abordagem pouco ortodoxa e estilo quase livre.

Eles começaram no final dos anos 80 com IT (todos os instrumentos) e All (vocais), também conhecidos por tocarem juntos no épico grupo de black metal Opthalamia e Vondur.

“Evil Genius” compila suas demos e o primeiro EP, gravados em um período que eles tocaram um estilo primitivo, pesado e horrível de black/death metal com uma musicalidade considerada como sendo as mais violentas, sujas, misteriosas e estranhas concebíveis para sua época.

Aqui temos a auto intitulada demo e “The Satanist Tunes”, ambas gravadas em 1990, além do raríssimo 7″EP “Evil” de 1991.

Estes registros antecederam a sua maior obra prima “Obscuritatem Advoco Amplectère Me” lançada por ninguem menos que a Deathlike Silence em 1993.
